Origin: from Fort Collins, via Washington DC and Lisbon
Destination: Bilbao City Rooms, Bilbao, Pais Vasco
After leaving Fort Collins on June 7th,
we celebrated the wedding near Charlottesville, Virginia, of our niece, Margaret Vaughn Cody (Marney's namesake) and Neal Nagarajan,
and after several pleasant-but-sleepy hours in the Lisbon airport, we landed at Bilbao airport a little past 7pm, Tuesday, June 12th to begin our European summer.
We took no time to explore this airport designed by Santiago Calatrava. Instead, before boarding the Bizkaibus (Bilbaobus) into the heart of Bilbao, we took time to "unsheath" our luggage to reveal and put into motion the Travoy cart-trailers that will be our rolling support over the next two months.
After settling into our cozy room, centrally located a few blocks from the Nervion River and the Guggenheim Museum, we set out at 9 PM for Las Cepas de Ajuriaguerra to feast on pinxtos (tapas) and begin sampling local wines.
After night glimpses of the Guggenheim,

we headed to sleep, happy to be here, delighted to be using Spanish again, and ready for adventure ahead.
